Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Do any of you fish for gill's in the river? I have found it to be a challenge to find big gills in the river. I always catch a lot, but just can not seem to locate the big ones consistently. Any one have any advice?

Allen,

The Arkansas brings back some memories from living in CO in my 20s. I used to guide rafts in Brown's Canyon and the Royal Gorge. Caught a lot of trout in that river and caught some walleye in Pueblo res (what an ugly lake to be near such pretty country). My in laws lived in Tulsa at the time and I often drove out hwy 50 to keep from falling asleep on I70 across Kansas. So I know that river. :)

I've driven I-70.  I don't blame you for taking a different route.

I always love river fishing. Starting in the spring fishing the rocks for rock bass. 75percent of the time we would slay them knowing the river was a plus and the river changes from day to day so no same 2 days was the same. River fishing was always a blast not knowing what that next cast would bring because so many different species inhabit the river systems not just here in Ohio but all over. Its a truly fun way to fish I encourage everyone to try it at least once for an experience you won't soon forget. My favorite rivers are knee deep something you can wade in. Get out and enjoy our rivers and stream fishing I really think you'll like it, I have taken so many positive memories from my experiences. PLEASE BE SAFE above all.
