Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

We all love bluegill, and some of our catch is for consumption....but when the cleaning is done, who gets the waste????...the local gas station garbage can?....the garden?.....the woods?.....I freeze my carcass until garbage day and no one gets offended by that cadaver smell.

coons get mine
I gotta wonder about you "freeze and forget" guys. Do you ever go to the freezer and fetch out a package of chicken wings for supper, then find that you have thawed out a lump of fish guts instead? :-D
I dump mine in a creek down the road. This way I can just put the guts in a bucket and rinse it out in the creek. No need for putting them in plasitc bag.

I've gone the gas station route before but have always felt a little guilty.
Used to be my cat but the little guy is gone now. If I kept the remains in the freezer and my wife saw them, I probably would be yelling "fish on" in a soprano voice the next time I caught one. Me occasionally accidently leaving the remote control in the fridge has made her extremely vigilant.
i freeze mine and use it for crabbing and minnow bait.
I run them through the grinder and feed them to the dogs as a dressing on their food.
Seeing as I have 3 dogs in the top 25 weight pulling bulldogs in the US, 8-8-09 my male pulled 8,570lbs
They love fish as much as I do, I'd say it ain't doin them no harm.
Rock
That's cool.
Dump them in the back forty for the animals.
I use them in my crawfish traps the minnows and crawfish love the remains!
Well,There's this guy up here in northern Minnesota that's been trapping for over 40 years...He asks a lot of locals through the years for their fish scraps....uses em for "sun rendered fish oil"( trappers know what this stuff is....mink, fox, fisher, bobcat coyotes go wild for the stuff)....He takes a 55 gallon barrel and buries it to the lid...throws all the fish scraps of a given "season" starting in the spring-summer and through the fall....the scraps "break down" and become this grayish brown "muck" type oily slurry....Talk about stink!....arghhhhh!....lol!...good thing this guy lives in the country!...lol!....You don't want this stuff on your hands!....lol!
98% of the time, I put them out for the coons and buzzards.

Half the time, one of our dogs brings them back to the house.

I guess it saves on chew treats.
any fish that we happen to get lucky and bring home to clean the carcasses get put in the blender and then spread around the garden and covered.
