Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

First Bluegill of the year..3 1/2 inches thick, and full of eggs..I put mama back in the water, but she was a beauty to start out with.

After talking with you, I'm wondering just how many are there - or not.

I'm trying to figure out how to catch another, it was the only one I caught the whole day.

Nice hybrid.

Yes, this fish looks like a classic hybrid bluegill.

I'm going to agree with Jim Gronaw on this.  It looks more like a GS X BG hybrid.  If you catch another one, get a good pic of the pelvic and anal fins.  If that's what you have in there, it's some good fishing!

A nice fish indeed, good way to start out.

John...your fish appears to be a green sunfish/bluegill hybrid rather than a true northern strain bluegill or a coppernose bluegill. Great fish, and congrats!

Now when you say "spinner" do you mean a bass type spinner bait, or a Mepps/Rooster Tail style in line?

It was a crawfish spinner..Bouyah Pond Magic..picked it up at Wally World.
