Brand new to bigbluegill.com as of an hour ago. Luckily, my 8yr old son and fishing partner showed me a picture of a slabber in a magazine. Under the caption was a link to the site. I am sooo looking forward to being a part of sharing, learning, and looking. I live in Southeastern Michigan and would gill fish everyday if I could with my son...
Yes, some wonderful, fun filled lakes in this part. We generally hit the lakes in Hillsdale, Lenawee, and Jackson counties. Of course we have a few local ponds that are the "go to" spots when the hankering hits.
My son and I just finished a day on the lakes yesterday. We put some nice Gills in the boat, but had to work hard for enough for dinner. The fish were suspended in about 10' of water which was 75 degrees. We caught the bigger ones by dragging a worm or cricket through them by reeling very slow. The bite was just an inhale, so paying attention was important.
It is something how things can change quickly in this part of the state. Just last week we found fish on beds again and then gone again. It is so important to be mobile and versatile this time of year.
