Yes indeed MEMORIES! I collect the vintage stuff I do for the same reasons. I also use most of what I find. Old Coleman lanterns have a special place in my heart. The sound and smell of an old Coleman hissing and lighting up a spot on the bank floods me with so many happy memories of childhood.

I've collected two vintage Eagle Claw rod 'n reels this winter that I can't wait to fish with this spring. Most of my fiends look at me like I'm soft in the head when they see me all decked out in 50's - 70's stuff but I'm happy and content.

The best part is when my old motors fire up when theirs won't or out fishing them with what they call "junk".

This stuff keeps the memories of my Dad and Grandpa alive as well. Going into my 20's I looked down on their simple way of fishing for tournament Bass fishing. Now going into my 50's I regret the years I lost to all that nonsense.

MAN I LIKE YOUR POSTS EARL !!!!!!! YUP I agree with ya 100% on all you said , especially when someone looks down their nose at me , but that doesn't happen much anymore. I never was a tourny fisherman and glad I never bit on that one , so to speak.

I got some old Colemans here and don't know how they work and would ship em to ya if I knew how . I would imagine the glass is very prone to breakage ..........

Yea , I have the full range of coleman stuff ,lanters , stoves and heaters  and still use it all, and kerosene lamps too, I'm mad at all those crackheads  making drugs out of coleman fuel, it has driven the price up from a couple of dollars a gallon to about 12 dollars a gallon.  LOFR

So that's what happened?

I wrap the globe in newspaper and put it back in the lantern then stuff the void where the mantles go with wadded up newspaper. It usually works fine. I'd love to have any old Colemans you don't want. If nothing else they make great parts lanterns.

HERE is some newer stuff made in late 60's early 70's
