Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I'm posting this here because I know there are some extremely good Taxidermist here.

I have yet to catch a fish worthy of hanging on my wall, but I feel like 2014 is the year for me!

What needs to be done?  Can the fish be released?  If I take great measurements/photo's will that work?  Or does keeping the entire fish just work better?  I know Taxidermist who do fish have to be amazing artists, but I feel like having the actual skin would work a lot better.  Though I don't really know.

Is there a price difference for the different types of mounts?

If I end up with more questions I'll just add them later.

I have no idea but I look forward to learn the same thing.

Im with wolfewiz - Id like to know to.

take a good picture measure the fish and get a replica made.they are beautiful ,look as good as or better than most skin mounts.it a win win .for you and the gene pool of the fish

SO this method captures a memory, while the alternative captures at least some part of the real fish.

Interesting...

Yup I hope 2014 is the year for me too Jim !!!!!! Good idea on the replica .......

not preaching,my son looks at me like i am crazy, caught a 18 in crappie a few years ago measured it thru it back cause it was on spawn bed.actually caught 2 more i think were bigger.had 1 of those disposable cameras and none of the pics came out. a guy got a 21 incher 2 weeks later ,he kept it and had it mounted.it is a personal choice.as long as you legally catch it is yours
