Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

It deserves a 30 minute show, or better yet a live demonstration from Tooty!

Thanks for the video.  Vicarious fishing through youtube has been a staple for me lately.  I've done the fly & bobber myself.  Dont limit yourself to just flies.  Small jigs & grubs will work too.

That's a bit much for me I think I'm just a little to old fashion.

Jacob it may feel a little unnatural to ya right now but after a few hundred fish you'll like it !!!!!! Leo I watched those two video's and thing those dudes may be in need of immediate medication buddy !!!!!!!!!! When I make my version on the Barney SHuffle video I may include some or their moves !!!!!!

Great job digging and posting the video Jacob. The infamous Barney Shuffle..in my mind, I thought it was something like this as you fish to shoo the critters away:

I was proposing to do something like this on the water:

Jacob

Just remember that the float and fly is also an excellent cold water technique. You may want to go down to a size 16  - 20 beaded nymph . The trick is to get the fly down and watch the float. The top wave action will give movement to the fly.

No problem David. Fishing float and fly still feels a little unnatural to me.

Thanks for the feedback, Jim and Jacob.

I get the "always moving" piece.

Comment by jim cosgrove on November 13, 2013 at 4:07pm

you demonstrated it perfectly jacob because in less than 2 minutes you caught a fish.just like when your stripping a fly to make it alive, swims up on the strip and down on the pause the cadence has to be tinkered with until you get em to bite.if you can take the wind wave action can do this also .i have had great days with a fly below a bobber with the wind in my face

good job jacob, liked everything but the shirt

I'm not sure I represented it well. The idea that Tooty demonstrated was that the fly should always be moving, even if that means it's just sinking. The "drift" is less a drift and more sinking back down to intended depth, so even though the bobber isn't moving, the fly is.
