Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I always keep that finger touching the line when I'm working a jig or bait back in. I can feel that tiny take of the fish quicker than through the rod's handle. By the way , I'm really starting to like this Hi-Vis line. I caught almost all my fish today using it! Didn't scare any of them away.

I've never used a leader....ever!

Ive used it with and without leader. I dont notice much difference.

It hardly seems worth the bother to tie in a leader.

No leader? Got to try that. Have tried in the past with little success. Leaders allowed me to get hammered faster. Luck of the line?

I just tied directly,.. no leader!

I use the hi viz mono alot. Never tried the braid.

Use hi vis braid for quite a while now. Catch pretty much everything. It's all about the bait/lure and presentation on a subtle leader.

I like the high vis yellow 6lb spider wire braid. I dont notice any difference in hits from the braid or the clear mono setup. ive even used this as a leader for my 3wt flyrod and caught my two largest gills.

Hi Vis is great when fishing fixed line since it's very easy to see the takes. My experience is that Bluegill do not appear to be Hi Viz line shy when using 4lb test or less. I use it when dapping dry flies at about 10 -12 feet. Asso makes a very nice white / blue Fluorolight line. The line is perfect for low light applications.

Anyone else use a Hi Vis line?  I'm curious as to what you think..
