Do you love big bluegill?

When do the bigblue gill on santee cooper tail race go on bed?  I think it is around the19th or 20 of Sept  Danny O Storey

I'm thinking you might be a little late but they do bed more than once so I guess it could happen.

Try looking a few days before a Full or New Moon.  New Moon is coming up soon.

Bluegills usually do a BIG spawn in the Spring.  I'm not sure what the water temp is when that happens.  However, unlike most fish, 'Gills will continue to spawn throughout the Warm-Water season, depending on water temp.  This usually occurs around Full Moons, but might happen around New Moons.  These extra spawns usually happen in the southern part of the country, I believe.  Also, it usually only happens with the smaller fish.

i have found that gills spawn all year until water temps fall below 72,Allen is correct around the full moon is the best time.

 although it seems the amount of fish bedding falls off the later it gets in the year ,if you work the beds  three day before and after the full moon ,i bet you will have success.
