Yea Jim I caught it on a rubber spider one of the first things I tied. It's in the picture just above the fish. As far as rod I don't think I'll be getting anything smaller but in the spring I want to get a 6wt for the Maumee River. I haven't fished it for many years and I think it will be a whole new experience with a fly rod.

Lee I am addicted to the fly rods that's for sure. Still a little leery with the 2wt but I ain't lying when I say I love the sound it makes when that line peels off.

good catch dick, the fly rod is not for everyone for sure but now that you are also tying flies also you can never go back .did ya get em on one of your flies?once got a 15+ pound grass carp in on a 5wt.took 45 minutes but it can be done.i wanted a 2 but settled for a 3,a fly shop near me,now closed had 0 and 00 rods.looked like long ice fishing rods.

Jen you and Greg are right it's a great way to catch gills especially if you love to fish ultra light and this is truly an ultra light outfit, thanks

Mark it is twice the fun of my 4wt. Greg was right he said I would enjoy it better that the 4wt and it is a great way to fish. I'm here to tell you it's a little spooky when one of the bigger fish take it and pull the line off to the backer and your hoping he stops but so far I haven't been able to turn one so that is a limitation of the rod. When the line peels of much will be going through your mind and that is part of the mystique and if you do get one I don't think you will be sorry. My goal is to catch one of my Hybrid Strippers with it. Have had a couple hook ups but as of yet no luck on the catching part but it is truly awesome to hear that line peel and the bend in the rod it great.

Greg you are right about one thing it is definitely a fun way to fish. The pole has lots of bend in it with most of it being the two thirds and I love to see it bend you can feel everything good stuff.
