I live in Southern Illinois and I'm looking for suggestions for Lakes to the South that my son and I can drive to in a day or less. The bluegill won't be on the beds here for at least two months, and I'm tired of bass and crappie fishing. Any suggestions?
Heres the link to all the state lakes in alabama. All are stocked and some even have campgrounds. I have a buddy that drives to illinois twice a year from mobile al. making it a strait shot and never stopping. He says it can get tuff when the snow is out. I know it takes 6 hours to get from here to the tn. state line so you can figure the state travel from that.
Try the Santee-Cooper Lakes in South Carolina. Some of the best fishing around. I always like fishing for bluegill in the upper lake (Marion) around the Rimini area. Good luck.
