Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I fought this 12 pound world record bluegill for over 2 hours, unfortunately, after wrapping the line around my legs and biting my hand, it somehow escaped my hook!

Looked like it was a beauty, Too bad you did not land it.

woyld have been sweet to have a new world record.

I figured out why the rod is'nt bent underall the weight.

you were useing a 3/8 in. stainless steel rod. a must for brutes like that one. LOL

I think a quote from Jaws is in order here:

Quint: Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods.

Or this one:

Hooper: That's a twenty footer.
Quint: Twenty-five. Three tons of him.

Twelve my butt! I bet that thing is at least 20, maybe 22 pounds, if not an ounce!

Michael...you have GOT to brush up on your estimation of fish size.

That rod sure doesn't seem to be bending very far for that GIANT 12 pound gill.   hmmm.

LOL The elusive "Gianticus" that destroyed all gears. The fish-tail's tale to pass down from generation to generation.

I've heard that twelve pound bluegill are almost always found on lakes with a curved horizon.  LOL!  Great photo, by the way!
