No but I've used gulp white maggotts with some success thru the ice. How'd you do using Gulp mini earthworms?
i did decent with them i fished them on a jig under a float and on a plain hook under a float i caught 5 gills and 12 inch largemouth that on 4lbs test felt like a giant
The earthworms have tempted me before Brent but I haven't tried them yet. I have experienced good success on Gulp 1" minnows for gills, bass and good catches of channel cats this month as well.

This will probably sound like a broken record coming from me, but here is another bait category that has done zilch for me. The artificial 'soft baits' have proven to mostly be a big bust. I had high hopes for them, I mean think about it- good bait that can be kept in a jar. It would be a fisherman's dream come true, right?

Well, so far it's remained a dream. I have reliably caught wild shiners on Berkeley white maggots, but that is it. Sunfish in general seem to give these baits no attention. Ive also tried the Power Bait maggots, Gulp! Earthworms, and Gulp! Fry in several sizes. Sad to say, none of these have caught anything. My son also used them a lot and reports the same meager results.

If this were just a tale of woe, we could leave it there. But the intriguing thing about all this is that some people swear by these baits rather than at them. Many are the folks who bring in fish using them. I'm guessing it is hit or miss, much depending on conditions and location. So far, success with them has eluded me.

But hey - give them a try and keep testing different methods. You never know!

i have a similar story related to kernel corn. i grew up on a lake in oakland county, mi and as kids we used 1 kernel of corn per hook and would have a field day on the panfish. i moved up north here near wixom lake and i took some kids fishing and was going to be a hero show the parents something easy for the kids to bait on their hooks and the gills refused them completely. it was a bust. it just may be some baits just dont work that well in all waters. but on another note... i just dont like paying the premium dollar for gulp baits that are quickly disposable.

Looking back I remember having a bad experience with the bagged grub baits that dried out in the bag. I bought the GULP maggots in the cream color along with the grubs. it took me a while to finally open the jar and start using the baits... it's drastically changed my fishing experiences since

I tried the earthworms this year with little success, but the gulp white maggots were highly successful.  While my counterparts continued to lose their live bait, I caught as many, if not more bluegill while changing my gulp maggots infrequently.  I will continue to use the gulp products including the earthworms as I believe they are a good alternative to live bait.

I DID catch some fish on the white asticots - fat golden shiners. They loved em. I was tempted several times to try some of them in the frying pan....

The small bluegill liked them right enough, too ... until I put them on a hook. They would go crazy, as usual, if I just tossed a few in the water. But once they were offered as hook bait, the sunfish said, "Nothing doing."

I actually did some tests, using cut pieces of live earthworm the same size as the white maggots, all other things being equal.  Without hesitation, the fish would snatch the worm bit and leave the Berkeley bait hanging there, without any significant interest.

I use some mighty small hooks (size 16), light line (2lb) and they would have none of it. It interests me no end to hear about people doing so well with them. Even with my sketchy results on bluegill, I'll probably always keep a jar of them around.

I haven't used the earthworms, but have done exceptionally well with the Gulp Alive 1" minnows. I have caught large Bluegills, Crappie, Bass, White &Yellow Perch, Golden Shiners and even Pickeral.

they have outfished live night crawlers for me. It's great to have a bait in a jar, ready to go when I am.

I fish them on a 1/64 or 1/32 oz. jig under a 2" foam torpedo float. I cast it out, let it settle for a minute, and then retreive it while popping the bobber (much like they fish for Sea Trout in the gulf. This motion give the bait a darting and falling motion that excites the fish into striking. On my last trip out I forgot my Gulp Alive baits and used just earthworms. I had a much slower day.

I did try a jar of the Berkely red wiggles with next to no luck at all. I still fished them under a bobber and also tried the cast and retrieve method mentioned above, but got almost no action at all!

Better get me some of those minnows....
I may have to try those as well .That's great ,7 species on the 1" minnow!
I have had modest success with the Berkley Gulp Earthworms as a tipping bait. Some days they have worked quite well, but I would prefer live worms to them on almost all occassions. During cold weather periods is when I have had my best luck with Gulp products. Always good to have some when it's cold and you can't get the real McCoy...I view them as a backup bait.
