Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Now that I've been out a few times in my 'Tube I noticed a few things:

1: The wind in Kansas NEVER quits blowing...... EVER! So I'm learning where to launch to use the wind to my advantage.

2: Slow is definitely better. You fish an area much more thoroughly than in a regular boat.

3: It's sooooo peaceful! The world we live in is so noisy and hurried today, my 'Tube is the best stress reliever ever invented. Once I'm out on the water I can actually feel the built up stress from the work week just melt away.

4: Wildlife don't care that you're there. I've had Muskrats and Beavers swim right past me like I wasn't even there. A deer came down for a drink and looked me over but didn't spook.

5: Everything that swims will hit a jig. I don't pack a lot of gear with me yet, just an ultralight and some jig boxes that fit into my vest. Last time out I caught Largemouth Bass, Channel Cats, Bluegill, Crappie, Drum, Wipers, and one little Walleye on a 1/32 oz tube jig.

6: Exercise! Because of our wind here in Kansas my flippers never stop when I'm on the water. I may even lose a pound or two this summer.

Great spirit Earl! Float tube is indeed one of the best exercise equipment there is. However, just be warned that local wild life can be a bit..well..curious and dangerous if you don't keep your eyes peeled wide open. For us Californians, wind conditions can be calm at one minute, and the next minute, gale winds that can flip boats. So, you can have a splendid day one day, and miserable conditions for the next week to come. If you don't have time to go fishing, float tube should be one of two floatation system you must have to play on the waters.
