Alan Warren is one of the most well-spoken supporters of the outdoors that I ever met.  He's exactly what this industry needs to help keep our hunting and fishing heritage alive.

I was proud to meet him.  Watch this video and you'll see why.

Pond management resources: Best places to go for pond management information.

People in the pond management industry say that www.pondboss.com is the best place to go for pond management information. I've written articles for Pond Boss magazine for years now, and I've never seen any other resource that is in the same ballpark. Bob Lusk is a member of BigBluegill, and has been a big supporter of www.bigbluegill.com. He was the brains and the inspiration behind the Pond Boss magazine, and the…

Raising Trophy Bass! Trophy Bass Expert Bob Lusk, speak to us!

Bob Lusk is an expert on raising trophy bass. He is the industry's leading expert on raising trophy bass. Bob, I'd like to extend an open invitation to you to spend a moment or two giving novices like us a primer on what it takes to raise trophy bass in our farm ponds, or in our small lakes. When you're done, I'll try to address how a pond manager can also create a trophy bluegill fishery along with the trophy bass. We know that raising trophy bass can be a complex process, but if you were…

Herman Brothers Pond Management

I just wanted to extend a huge "Thank You" to Herman Brothers Pond Management, and Nate Herman, who is a member of Big Bluegill for their incredible hospitality they extended me this last weekend!

Their operation is absolutely first class, and offers people in the Illinois, and the Midwest a chance to catch a really huge hybrid bluegill.

Take a look at this great fish. We caught several hybrid bluegill in the 1-1 3/4 pound range, and we also caught quite a few…

Red, White and Bluegill by John Dawson of BigBluegill

Every once in a while I just like to kick my feet up, and think about what a great thing it is to live in the United States. Fishing, fireworks, grilling, hanging out with friends...it's all part of the American dream. Thanks to all of you BBG fans out there. This is an awesome site! Happy 4th of July.

Bruce Condello's Photo Technique Revealed!

This news flash just in!

Bruce Condello holds his fish out in front of him for photos! Now I know this may come as a shock to many of you, but my secret is finally out. :-)

If you would like to know some of the secrets to this technique, read on! \:D

Rule #1. Catch a big fish. No matter how hard you try, you're not going to make a 9 inch bluegill look like a 12 inch bluegill, nor will you be able to make a 15 inch bass look like a 22 incher. There…

A tribute to Mr. 2lbgill

Dear Mr. 2lbgill,

I just wanted to let you know that you are a huge inspiration for this site. I saw your website, www.2lbgil.com a while before this site existed and I remember thinking what a cool deal that it was that you took time to create such a nice place for bluegill lovers. It was a big inspiration for www.bigbluegill.com

I've noticed…

Richmond Mill package deals

Thanks to strong demand for bluegill packages, Richmond Mill is creating some package deals for groups of four or more.

Without question, Richmond Mill is nirvana for big bluegill enthusiasts. Bluegill average over one pound, and two-pounders are possible for those with a lot of skill, and a little luck.

I've been to this place and I was amazed at the quality of people, and the fishing experience.…

U.S. popularity in the last year for Big Bluegill!!!

In order of visits, by state...

The second number is average pages/visit

The third number is average time spend on BBG

Followed by % new visits

Followed finally by percent of people who immediately jump off of site

For what it's worth, the average time spent on this site (7-10 minutes) is OFF THE CHARTS for a site like this. That's really cool.

1. Illinois 12,116 8.69 00:07:04 44.51% 27.14%

2. Nebraska 11,346 7.71 00:10:53 18.29%… Continue

John Sheehan's Christmas CD

I'm going to break one of my personal rules today.

Even though this really isn't about bluegill, I'd like to give a big "shout out" to John Sheehan's Christmas guitar instrumental CD. I've been listening to it for hours, and it's absolutely awesome.

I thought it would be appropriate on this forum to mention, because John is an avid member of www.bigbluegill.com , and this music is custom made for sitting in an ice fishing hut and… Continue

Richmond Mill--World class bluegill fishery.

Let me start by saying that I could make this blog post go on forever. I just came back from the best bluegill fishing of my life, so I'm a little fired up.

I'll try to keep it short.

Richmond Mill Lake is in North Carolina. It's a private, managed fishery that world-renowned pond and lake manager Bob Lusk has been in charge of.

Jim Morgan is the owner. He recognizes beauty and opportunity when he sees them, and… Continue

Carp, walleye, smallmouth bass....bluegill!

Periodically we see the fishing media try to direct us to the new "in" fish. Carp have seen a resurgence, walleye started having their own tournaments, smallies had multitudes of stories written about them.

Now it's the bluegill's turn!

Bluegill have it all.

Catchability.

Eatibility.

Trophyability...(might not be a REAL word)

Enjoyable for all ages.

I just wanted to say thank you for the surpreme effort by all on this… Continue
