What type of animal is a bluegill?
No but that would be nice.
Well I have been hitting Lake Michigan the last couple days for those sweet delicious BIG PERCH.I have pics but am not that good with the computer since my last job as I haven't used those skills for awhile.Hope to post them sometime this week.Gotta love 12" perch off stickbaits when everyone else does jigs for the smaller ones.Looking for that 16" or 17" this year that would be my first mount. That would be an awesome firt mount (probably a replica just to hopefully get those genes out there for one more year) I live so close to the lake, almost all ,summer fishing inland turns off for me.I could only wish to see an AAron Matos bluegill come my way in Wi.There was a 2lber out of Green Bay in 95.Hard record to beat there. Not really out for records just some fun catching the fish most everyone was introduced to.And a few Fries here and there.

Waiting for the Ice

Cant wait for the ice to come.Got a flasher for fishing this year and am hoping for a couple of inches to walk on this weekend. This is an annual rite of passage for many of us up in the north (although I just took it up last year at 36) But not everyone that fishes up here thinks its that great ,I can honestly say, I didnt either, til, I pulled that first 8" gill up the hole.

When your on the outside looking in, I guess, it seems kind of dumb to sit in front of a bunch of different… Continue

Keepers,Eaters,Fryers...How big do you go and why.

I was just reading a topic about this on another Report forum and it picqued my interest.Along with the propsed Big Gill alliance, Mr Rorer was talking about. Anyhow here in SE Wi, we have a limited number of options, to where you can catch some true giant gills, for our area here in the north. I can think of 2 that are about an hour, to an hour and a half from me.One, I won't go to due to money and just the insane craziness on the lake, the other I try to fish about once a week if I can. This… Continue

Still cracking on the procrastinated things about my page

Well, I added photos and a pic of myself, I am not the most, photogenic person.I am much, better looking, in person J/K. Anyway, I am not the bluegill fisher I was once, or maybe I never was, but I added some general pics, of a few of the fish, I have caught over the last couple of years.I don't usually bring a camera, as that means a black and white kitty in the boat for me.

Can't have that, but maybe, I'll purchase a scanner and get those in here, when I get extra change to do it.I… Continue

Thanks for the response. I'd like to tangle with some Kings and Brown Trout. Although it sounds like the Coho are great to eat and are starting to show up. I hear that these fish can be caught close to shore.

Bought a couple "Automatic Fisherman" to use while ice fishing the harbors, but never made it up there.

Do you ever take your boat out on Lake Michigan and fish for Trout or Salmon?

I check out Eric Hattaja's site ( all the time and I'm amazed at the quality fish they catch. I want to come up and try it some time, using my boat. Sounds like certain times of the year the "near-shore" and harbor bite can be good. A lot of fish caught vertical jigging Gulp minnows and jerk shads. Or trollin planer boards using crankbaits and spoons / flies.

I've got a 17' Lund, so I don't want to venture out too far, unless it's relatively calm.

Just curious to see how much of this type fishing you do?

when your on turn up your chat volume. this is what you do, go to the top of the page, click chat on the right (its on the menue bar) then when you get there put up the volume which is next to the smilie face, and the computer volume because the beep is very soft. this is because if someone trys to talk to you the chat volume is on mute. if you want to talk to someon just copy and paste this message.

The most common bait that is used in Lake Erie is shiner minnows---fished from a spreader or a crappie rig. I prefer a crappie rig myself.

I am a jumbo perch hunter myself! I target them hard in the winter though. The pike fishing you got sounds amazing! Someday I will have a 10wt flyrod to go after them!

Rob, I acquired the name "Musky Mod" back in 1983 during my first year as a musky fisherman....known as the fish of a thousand casts, I successfully landed 19 fish over 40" during my first season....I rarely fish for them now, but the name lives on....This imprint was created in the early 80's and can be seen at the end of Johnson Motors pier at the Waukegan lakefront.
