No....I don't eat Bowfin and I release every one of these Apex predators to do their part in a balanced fishery.....I feel they are part of the balance because they inhabit some of my best big bluegill waters in good numbers....This one was caught in the upper reaches of the Perquimans River near Belvidere, North Carolina........

NJ has these fish. Personally I never saw one before, people tell me they fight like a big Bass. They remind me of a Snake. Great Catch Jeff

Absolutely Jim......I saw a couple last weekend looking for evidence of Bluegill bedding.......I use a little heavier line on my bluegill rigs so I can land some of these guys when they strike......They make for a few minutes of chaos when they attack Mark.......I imagine you've hooked some big ones on the Northwest River......

Believe it or not Jeffrey, bowfin are getting ready to spawn in Marbug Lake, PA, where I catch all my carp. Every year some 7 tp 10 pounders are caught by bass fishermen.
