Looks to be eating well.

Spices merely soaked and seeped into the warmed meat before cooling it back down for transport. The spices don't toughen the hotdogs any more since the hotdog casing does all of that. The cheap hotdogs have casings made out of synthetic food grade plastics (which I stay far, far, FAR away from).

Velvetta cheese around here are all over the places. People eat cheese sauce like it's water in California. We'll eat it once or twice a year. Whatever is left from what we don't use from a large can, my wife always reminds me to make cheese bait out of it. There are tons of catfishes in Perris Lake. Time to make some for our adventures to come, stuffing the bait into the pig intestine casing we have from making our German's sausages.

Did the spices toughen up the HT chunk and keep it on the hook better after thawing?

Thats more like it !

Never! $1 pack of 12 hotdogs got me flatheads like crazy. I spiked the hotdogs with some deadly sauces for 24 hours before heading out to hunt for kitties.

Fine but you shouldn't downplay cheap Hot dogs . i am doing good with them .Stay on hook better , easier to use .

Fresh chicken liver is the way to go. Otherwise, time to get some pig intestine to jam those liver in, and poke a few holes to let the scent out. Pig intestine used for hotdog/sausage making can last a long, long time when it comes to making baits and staying on the hooks. I used it in making my bait recipes in the past. Velvetta cheese mix into the liver, you'll have lockjaws.

Not yet Leo but I need to toughen up those frozen chicken livers i have or buy some new ones and use them without freezing .They arent staying on the hook well. . The hot dogs I gotta use up are working again though .

Have you modify your chicken liver with any other blood or herbs such as powder/liquid garlic, anise, or secret sauce?
