Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

My first Solid Gill of 2013...A Bagley's Swamp 10.75"

What a blast to fish public waters all by myself today and catch quality Tidal Water Panfish....It's not an addiction, it's an obsession for me.....Coastal North Carolina rocks and it just got harder to sleep at night! Out of 36 Gills today, 20 were over 9" and three were 10" or over.....

It may be a year or two before I can get out there for another visit. Believe me, if I can take a day for a little side trip to fish with you for some 10"+ers I will do it! NC is where I fell in love with Gills so it holds a special place in my heart...Thanks for the offer!

Thank you all.....it was an interesting afternoon to say the least and I watched the gills turn on near the surface in front of my eyes and that was really cool....I'm so excited to get on some of my honey holes now that the weather has turned for the better.....it should be a lot of fun in the weeks ahead.....Look me up Nathanael.....I only fish about 180 times a year so we might get to go....LOL

Nice shot buddy and guess you guys have turned the corner down there with the weather, good for you ! Raining and cold here today , but getting better next week I hope for my trip south. That was a total catch of 36 gills for the day and anyone would be proud of that ........

Nice Jeffrey! When I come back to visit my second home of old NC, I just may message you and see if I could tag along for a day....Obsession no doubt!  :)

Thanks Townie....catching so many solid Crappie today it was sweet to see that line start spinning in those patented tight circles and there he was.....not decked out in his spawning tuxedo but a great fish.......

Thanks Mike....we have broken through our water temperature barrier that was haunting us and we are in for some excitement in the coming weeks/months......My obsession is with big Coppernose gills!
