Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Fished my favorite fixed position shore spot today for a bit over an hour. Used one of my favorite Panfish presentations; a 1/3 or 1/4 Crawler piece hooked on a floating jig-head under a split shot eight inches above FJH. . Great slow Fall that makes them commit . 16 Bluegills, 7 White Perch ,2 Yellow Perch ,1 Pumpkinseed and 1 Brown Bullhead .The Fish were so aggressive the rather large 1/0 Hook was inhaled by the small mouthed Bluegills, Pumpkinseed and White Perch.68degWT

Hey Tracy! That may happen to Pumpkinseeds in some lakes  if the the Green Sunfish , which are consider evasive up here in New jersey, take over . I catch very few Greenies as of now but they are surely aggressive and competitive  .

John- i live near and fish the lake where the record was caught but have never caught one.  i believe the shellcaracker have displaced them.  there is only another small population in far east tn.

Bluegills outnumber Pumpkins by a long shot up here in NJ, but no less aggressive ! Beautiful to look at !
