Keith...the pumpkinseeds and the pumpkingill hybrids are right in with the bluegills in the same areas they are spawning and take the same baits and jigs. We have caught most of them on # 6 Aberdeen hooks with either a piece of worm or Gulp! redworm about 3 to 5 ft below a bobber and allowed to 'wind drift' accross larger, expansive spawning shoals from the bank. Another hot lure for us has been the Trout Magnet 1/200th oz shad dart jighead in black tipped with a piece of Gulp redworm.

The use of a tipped jig, even as small as the teensy 1/200th oz TM, seems to greatly reduce 'deep-hooked' fish, thus enabling a 98% catch and release option. Many options, I am sure, would work very well on this small, untapped under the radar public water that sees fishing pressure, but almost exclusively for it's small bass population. We are closing in on 700 released fish for the past 7 weeks here.
