You should be proud, guys. Just venturing out in those kinds of conditions takes a lot of determination, and all of you showed just what you were made of by even attempting it. Very glad that a good time was had by everyone, and I'm hoping to meet up with some of you in the future.
Excellent effort all around, thank you for sharing the experience with those of us who couldn't be there in person.
Great report Lofr AND NO MATTER WHAT I'D STILL LIKED TO HAVE BEEN THERE .
Nice testimony LOFR and very typical for "lake" fishing throughout America.....open spaces and wind just don't treat even the determined angler very well....often inclimate weather can improve your catch provided you're able to safely fish.....glad you guys had fun and I would have enjoyed being there for sure.....here's hoping we can do more in the future......
Scruff, Reelfoot is one of the fishiest looking places but the shoreline was only about 2 ft deep and the fish had moved into the deeper water, but the deeper water was in the wind creating rollers of waves that at times were were 2-3 ft high with no way to hold your position , on top of that were the stumps that only allowed you to idle through the hazards in those conditions. I should have taken more photos but I needed to be concentrated on the navigation, and on top of that we were dodging schools of Asian carp that were leaping out of the water 4-5 feet, we had 1 that must have weighed 40 lbs that landed in the boat right next to me and bounced out , it could have knocked me out if it had hit me. At times we would have 30 of them rising out of the water escorting us at the same time, we started calling them Tennessee Dolphins. Sometimes on the way back the front of the boat would rise 5 feet out of the water and land on top of the next wave and the spray from the boat splash would come over the gunwales of the boat and everybody was getting wet, so overall mother nature wasn't cooperating with us , the lake was on the verge of white capping on our 2 mile trip back to the dock at idle speed into the wind, we were lucky to find some catfish for dinner close to the dock. Overall it was a great adventure ! LOFR
