Do you love big bluegill?

OH MY! Those guys would be in my fish tank!
What brilliant colors don't get any better than that.
Bruce, Longears taste just like bluegill to me...maybe every so slightly sweeter (which may be in my head because they are so darn pretty, the LOOK like they should taste better), but otherwise hard to distinguish.
Jeff, A Missouri Master Angler award for Longears is a 7'' fish. I caught a 9&1/4" Longear a few years ago, and have taken several over 8"...but they are very rare. Most that I get out of Glaize Creek (like those in this picture) are 6 to 6 &1/2 inches. Any smaller than 6'' and they are not worth keeping for food....but you get 2 pretty good nuggets of meat out of a 6 incher.
Those fish are so beautiful. How large do they usually get?
