Sorry for the late response David. I have not fished the I and M canal. I would love to fish the Hennepin canal but I'm about 3 hours away from it so it's tough. There is one dynamite lake for giant rockies nearby Chicago in Crystal Lake

I fish the Hennepin Canal, it has some descent crappie in it. Way to go on a cold November day.
