Gentlemen I believe we have a Winner.....or at least Mike calls them the same thing I do,

Spotted Sunfish this particular one is paler than normal and has an interesting turquise tint around the gill flap. Maybe because he came out of a spring run that has a hi mineral and salt content?

The Variety of Bream/Panfish never cease to amaze me and some of them are just downright pretty!

I think it may be a genetic spliced with a hint of trout genetic? That is one puzzling looking thing.

I'm pretty sure it is a hybrid of some kind, but not a pure green sunfish...lacks fin edging and crescent on the ear tab. Large mouth does lean toward a green sunfish parent, but the spotting on the cheeks, gill plate and below the pectoral fins are indeed unique. Lack of barring is another puzzle...

Anybody else got a hunch?

Hmmm. I'm drawing a blank...... large mouth like a Greenie, Warmouth, or Rockbass, but the color and pattern is all wrong for any of those.
