Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Lake Road Bait Store/Bar Near Madisonville, Louisiana…7/30/2024

I ran across a photo of the lake road bridge and boat ramp….it got me reminiscing of my childhood….my dad and I launched our lake skiff here many times during my school years…..the canal pictured went from the Tchefuncte River into the salt marsh and we loved to panfish this region…there was a large alligator that had basically turned into the mascot but disappeared one day….the old pilings below this bridge were from the original bridge that was lost during Hurricane Katrina….we would often just put the boat in and start fishing into the marsh….great memories and I’ve seen a similar sunrise several times….

Every state in the country has those special little places……this place always put me in a good mood as the adrenaline would get pumping whenever we were going fishing…..

Indeed…..this area is so close to sea level…I’ve seen this entire road covered with three feet of water just from strong winds….

If I get out the remainder of July it will probably be a crappie stalk on the coastal marsh……
