Thanks guys. My buddy, guide and local legend Chris Eberwein had a string of 14 consecutive trips in January with at least one 70 lber per trip. The James is the greatest catfish hole on the planet!

The short version... we fished 2 1/2 days on the James this week..totaled 18 cats, one bowfin. Most cats ran 14 to 18 lbs. My biggest of trip was 25 and Charlie had a 28 and a 60. The giant was caught on the 11 th hour as we were getting ready to pull em in and head home. All fish took cut gizzard shad at various depths, but we caught a number of fish in very shallow water, as thin as 18 inches deep. Big cats aren't always deep.
