This region supports some of the largest Bowfin Rodeos in North Carolina........it's hectic when you set the hook on panfish gear on a telescopic pole ......

Our brackish waters are full of these native fish and its difficult to catch the bigger ones on terminal tackle.........get a net on one now and then......this is violent from hook set........

NICE!! Only ever caught one ,21.5" on a Black Reaper style Grub on a 16th or 1/8th oz black ball jig , It's a leech imitation . I believe it was out of 14' of water . wHATS THE ESTIMATED LENGTH AND wEIGHT OF THAT FINE FISH jEFFREY! Also what did it hit?

Adam, those things fight like there's no tomorrow!  I've caught one, on a 4 1/2' UL crappie rod.  I saw it eyeballing my spinnerbait, just feet from me, in shallow clear water.  I dabbled the spinner in front it the fish like a jig, and IT INHALED IT AND TRIED TO RUN OFF!  Only had a few feet of line out.

Oh, and don't "lip" one like a Bass.  These things have teeth.
