Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

playing around with ep fibers I got for Christmas and made these minnows today. probably too big for a gill but hope some crappie will get fooled.

3" would be close to the "candy shad" in the Fall that White Bass, Stripers, and other predators key on.  I just need to get some materials.....

Allen, these are about three inches long and are tied on a size 1 saltwater hook.  I tied a few more using mustad 3366 hook in a size 2 and think i will try a size four or six; that will give a better chance of hooking gills.  they are a very easy tie although they do take  a little time. I got my learning from http://www.flyfishohio.com/Puglisi_Baitfish.htm there were pics and a video.

Some of those, tied about 4 - 5" long, would be KILLER Striper flies here.  I've got to start tying some of these.....

How big are those?  I agree with Jeff, they look just like Threadfin Shad.  Here in OK, we also have Gizzard Shad, which look almost identical, but get HUGE.
