Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Heat Waves Also bring out these Guys....This one was over 5 feet!

Seen quite a few of these the last few times out...I got a little spooked from this guy as I was catching a few gills and ended up drifting within ten feet of this Water Moccasin before I realized he was there.....

The boat might have been his Ronnie....Been awhile since I've seen one this size!

That is a big moccasin. Hate when they fall in the boat with you.

Tooty you don't want to upset the red wasp. If you think the cottonmouth is bad think about having 50 red wasps after you and no place to go and on top of that they being very aggressive and you being the target. Not pretty.

I wasn't snagged around this guy Tooty....I might have even gave this one my LAST Gronaw Grass Shrimp had it get hung up close to him.....LOL

JEFFREY, you are a better man than me cause if it was the last lure on earth that I had and it was snagged by this Python size cotton mouth , I wouldn't attempt to get it. There is a sure fired method of deflating those old swim bladders though: 12 gauge with 00 BUCK will tame em right down! What's a red wasp? Never seen one of those either!

They can be pretty aggressive Tooty.....it's worse to meet up with them in open water as they see the boat as a way out of the water......These snakes fill they're swim bladder with air so they glide right across the surface......Also their young will assemble in  a ball making an encounter dangerous....Between red wasps and snakes, I take it real slow going in to retrieve a stuck lure or terminal tackle......

JEFFREY , IF THE GILLS WERE 5 LBS. APIECE I WOULDN'T GO WITH YOU FISHING THERE !!

AREN'T THOSE things kind of cranky if you mess with em?  GOOD LUCK BUDDY and glad we don't have those pests up here like that!!!!!!!!!!

Another shot for a size reference.....I had a bad sun angle trying to get other shots of him......I saw a lot of these growing up on the bayou but they're some big ones in the Dismal Swamp here in North Carolina for sure....
