Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I had the great good fortune to spend last evening chatting with the Maestro himself, Tooty. After sharing his observations, he imparted a few of his Stinger Secrets.
My cup runneth over!
Lifted above the surly bonds of earth by his words, I felt encouraged to try a version of my own. This is the result.

I don't know if it'll catch anything, but it has a certain "pizzazz," don't you think?

Quite possibly, although I may modify it a bit.

Fish cakes, Allen - with the Secret Recipe?

Comment by DAVID L EITUTIS on October 11, 2013 at 6:06pm

NEVER THOUGHT about Kip tail at the front David , but it would seem to me to be a + for slowing the bugs fall .....

I would just do the "cut and gut" routine on those Crappie, but She Who Must Be Obeyed has decreed that all fish should be fillets.

I don't like filleting small fish.

I'm actually thinking about catching some, do the "cut and gut" routine, then poach them whole, and make some fish cakes out of them.

Allen - "all the stunted crappie I can catch,..." Hahaha!

Tooty - the neck ruff is that kip tail you suggested. I just let it hang forward over the bead as I tied it in, and it sprang upwards with that frill. I clipped it and there you have it. I also thought about leaving it long, just to see how that works.

Jeff and Dick - glad to hear you guys see some potential in it. We'll see what the fish say - they didnt like the popper/dropper nymph combo, today.

YOU ARE TOO KIND DAVID !!!!!  GREAT LOOKING ADAPTATION BUDDY and you might just contact Jeffrey ahead of time , HE'LL LOVE THESE!!!!!!! I especially like the clipped hackle at the front or what ever it is. Should add some turbulence to the water and thus attract attention buddy. I like your tail on this better than mine !!!!!!

CONGRATS ON A GREAT LOOKING BUG........
