Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Last April I was fishing a local creek with a jig tipped with a live cricket from a telescopic pole......I didn't win but I got the picture of a huge snapping turtle......Our estuary offers so much diversity......

This guy was hooked and surfaced on a ten foot telescopic pole and had I wanted him I had a chance to tail grab this turtle.......the jig straightened out right after this photo.......

Here's a big snapping turtle on a telescopic pole Leo that ended up escaping........only a ten foot pole without much backbone......he went deep and straightened out my jig hook.........this has happened several times in recent years......I scooped one smaller than this a couple years ago.......

We've probably all had a run in with these guys!

I was really surprised I managed to get him to the surface with only a 10 foot telescopic pole but the light made him angry and as you can see......he went deep and the 1/32 ounce jig didn't survive that surge......
