Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Here's another of my many experiments, tied from low cost, 'non fly related' bits. In other words, stuff that costs ALOT less than "real" fly tying stuff. .

Lori and I were out today and I found some wool roving at Hobby Lobby. I thought it might make some useful dubbing and at $2.99 for a lifetime quantity it seemed worth trying. Its a bit coarse, but it works.

Once I'd wound on the dubbing, I needed something else to "Bug It Up." As luck would have it, some Guinea quill and the tip of a pheasant rump feather were drifting around the bench - literally - so I tied them on, too.

Don't know if it'll catch anything, but if it does, well, ....I hope I can duplicate it!

Thanks Dick.
The more I work with the many patterns available, the more comfortable I get.
I'm sure you know all about that.

Hahaha! Rick, you're killing me!
I'm more of a natural kinda guy, but it could be done in pink.
Hmmm...

Its a Dollar Store Killer - ya you did it again David - proved that you can tie nice gill getting bugs out of almost anything. Tie them in PINK and I think Sir JEFFERY would take a several hundred just to round out his collection.....

John, you'll remember I started tying so I could have an "evening hobby."
Fishing them is actually secondary.
Now my wife is suggesting I sell the things on Ebay. And she helps me look for things that can be used to tie flies, too. Sooooo, all this positive reinforcement is having its effect on me.
Thanks, guys.
