The other possibility that I considered was that this is a small solar panel that powers your flyrod throughout the day so you never get tired of fishing for huge panfish.

LOL! Yes I am! It is a trick I learned years ago from an outstanding bluegill angler after he taught me how to 'zero-balance' my micro-light rig!
