These are very cool with a little hackle to slow their fall just a bit......

Thanks for the answer Jim. I don't use craft hair but calf tail and will try to find some of the craft hair. Tell you the truth I've never heard of craft hair and will check at Hobby Lobby and see what I can find. Thanks...............

David...I think Jeffrey is using the simple pink wrapped with sparkle braid or sparkle core as the body, minus the hackles. The tail can be maraboue but I like craft hair.

HEY  JIM,

ARE THESE the ones Jeffrey is using ? If so what material is the body wrapped in? Flashabou wrapped around the  tail material?

Tony...the first time you catch a big gill or hybrid on one of your own jig creations you will have a desire to try more. As you know, it is a huge thrill when you catch a fish on your own lures, and of course, there will be times when our lures will not work. I think you should get started, right away!

Today I caught big fish on 4 different lure types...none of which were my jigs! Plus live bait, but it didn't matter because my jigs just couldnt fish well through the grass and weeds. Perhaps I should have scaled down to a 1/80th or 1/100th oz jig. Maybe I spent too much time trying to catch those darned redears!

I would encourage you to try the jig tying gig...perfect for us panfishers!

Those jigs were the final push for me to learn to tie my own, Tony. Jim and other fly tiers on here, see what you have done?????   lol

I'm fighting the urge with all of my being, what with me not being a fly-fisherman and all, but I've been feeling a terrible compulsion to take up tying my own jigs for use on my spinning tackle. After seeing photos of the incredible work, not to mention successful fishing excursions, posted by several BBG members, I fear it's only a matter of time..............

Thanks, guys! These are easy to tie...the hackles are a little tough when you first ry it, but like anything else, it takes practice. Check out the jig/fly tying group on this site for some great info.
