Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Started with an electric chicken Crappie Thunder jig tipped with a live minnow.....this was just minutes after launching the boat under heavy overcast conditions......

I'm a bad waiter Carl.....growing up I would drive my mom nuts as I was always eager for the blue crab and crawfish migrations to begin every year.......seems like we always had something going on and I've been forced to adjust since moving away from the DEEP south........my mom still has several local newspaper clippings from my early exploits including one of my best bass fishing adventures ever on a warm February day back in the late 70s........I opted out of a day of Mardi Gras parades to hit a favorite little lake we knew as Hillcrest.....fishing live shiners under a float I nearly sank the jon boat I was in.......spring has always been exciting but the wait is a little longer on the Albemarle but definitely worth it.....sometimes you're blessed as we were last season with an early transition but 2015 has been more in line with a normal year in that Good Friday is more significant than the quote....first day of Spring.........

The 30th of March was good last year......today it's a chilly washout on the Northeast coast of NC.......should improve rapidly behind this frontal boundary.......

The two on the left are the Crappie Thunder......that skirt gives you lots of movement throughout the drop and when jigged under a float.....we added a live minnow today for the best results........water a bit stained still in this particular creek as we have had rain more days than not in March......
