Great looking fly. The hook looks like it's can haul in more than just the 20lbs carp. Have you done a dead weight test on these hooks for sheer strength before they straighten out. The hook looks ferocious.

Kinda looks like a take on a Wooly Bugger.  Looks good.  I would agree that you'll catch a bunch of fish on it!

Looks deadly Jim.

pretty much what you and allan tie jim.just a few more materials.i fish pretty clear water and natural type colors work best.i tie a similar one with brown ultra chenille and crawdad brown rabbit that is probably my best color near home.this one is sz14 with a tung bead on a straight pin lashed to the body to make it weight forward.but i tie it on all different size lead heads.we went thru a dozen of em today.

That 'hackle-jig' concept should be deadly, year 'round.

I bet if I were to 'drag' one of those on some clay and mud bottoms of my pumpkinseed and shell cracker lakes I would be hooked up constantly.

Excellent!

caught 40-50 gills most around 8 inches on this type jig.below a small float constantly twitche on the retrieve.

thanks b,i have been using similar flies for years now.i fish a lot of deeper clear water and the tungsten beads can hold that deeper level even on a floating line.i find sinking lines a nightmare to cast.i have tried small standard jig hooks but they make the fly too long and out of proportion ,i use jigs of this type on spinning gear in bigger sizes and have caught everything on them, even managed to beach a 20lb+ grass carp on one.

Thanks, Jim - Everything about that jig/fly looks great. Did a little looking around online last night to see if I could find anything similar. Nothing directly comparable, but picked up a half dozen of these which have some similarities. Still more fly than jig unfortunately, but with the bright highlights, some winged aspects and a bit of tail feather.
