These particular fish were caught during May. However my most productive fishing is in August and September. I always fish a straight line with no bobber. Just a couple of large splitshot and a number 1 lightwire hook. I use 8 lb test to help straighten the hook on hang ups and to keep the number of crackers from breaking me off to a minimum. I perfer a whole night crawler for bait, its amazing how quickly they can inhale a jumbo crawler. Ive found several of the different lakes I fish to be complete opposites of one another. During the heat of the summer I find big shellcrackers in less than 5 fow in one lake and 12 to 14 feet in another. The only pattern that holds true for me is to find irregularities that contain wood and some of them will hold fish.
