Strip their skins and fillet them, deep fry/bake with different breading mixes. I like my battered with cornmeal with beer, cajon spices, and deep fried, with the side order of heart killing onion blossom with the same batter. Man, I just ate, and you make me hungry for more.

OK I can get tons of these little kittys out of our lake in the next month or so. How do you all cook them. Up north they are not considered very tasty.

@Jb... Yeah, shellcrackers are take a worm on the bottom. All things considered, that makes a lot of sense.
I almost always keep a wad of worm on the bottom, when I'm in one spot for very long. I keep one pole rigged for it, ready to go. One of the good things about catfish is they share the same waters as brim. Normally, they are found in a different "section," if you will, but it pays to keep a baited hook on the bottom whenever practical.
This is especially so if you chum, or "feed" as you fish.

Beautiful fish, and they do taste great! My wife hopes I'll go catfishing some time, but I'm just too addicted to the sunfish clan. I've caught a few catfish in my life, but I wasn't really targeting them, generally. It just kind of happened.

Funny thing is, a couple years back I'd put a nightcrawler on a hook on a medium spincast outfit and cast it way out there with a big sliding sinker, stuck it in a rod holder and put a bell on it. A couple hours later the bell starts jingling so I go over and pick up the rod and set the hook. Fairly string fish on the line, and when I reel it in I find it's the 9" redear that can be seen in my photos. The crawler was on a shortshank #4 Eagle Claw and the redear had completely swallowed it! I just cut the line and tossed the fish in the ice chest. Got my hook back at cleaning time :)

Like you guys, I'm never disappointed when a channel cat hits my offering...Pretty good fight as dick mentioned on light tackle or in this case..telescopic pole..and you hit it on the head Glen...very tasty specimen..
