Allen I tried to get it as close to the real thing as I could.
You got multiple black stripes on those, which is something I thought about, but didn't do. You also managed to get the "horn" coming off the back end. Very nice!
Jonathan when I lived In North Carolina that was the bait of choice and the older gentleman I fished with Ray turned me on to them. Sorry to say he has passed was a big loose to me. I swear he knew where every catalpa tree was in N.C. so we always managed to get bait.
WOW DICKY !! THEY LOOK SUPER GOOD BUDDY ! I JUST HAVE STARTED TRYING TO TYE SOME OF THOSE;; IN MY ; ( DOWN TIME ) I;LL HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO TRY SOME MORE !
Ah I have possibly seen one Catalpa tree in my life in New Jersey.
Yes John they love Catalpa trees and my guess is the trees are in Jersey also. If you find a tree don't mean you will find catalpa worm though. When we were kids we called then cigar trees, They have large leaves with a long seed pod hanging from the tree. I have about a half dozen across the street but have never seen a worm on them.
Gotta have a Catalpa tree to find the worms right Dick?I don't think we have them in New Jersey .
These were made up a few years ago John. I remember when I lived down south they were the best bluegill bait I ever encountered. Since I have moved back up north I haven't been able to find any thus the Idea to tie a few up to try.
Fantastic work Dick!
