Do you love big bluegill?
This fish is above the live well and you can't see any of the other fish in the dark tannic water.......it gets very dark by the end of summer but will stain during the winter when the cypress trees don't filter thus less acids are absorbed by the rivers.............

Great crappie. great colors with an interesting bold stripe along the lateral line.
Thanks Tim.......
Good info and great fish!
Thanks guys............these fish make another charge to shallow cover before water temperatures dip below 60 degrees Ken.......I fish almost exclusively year round with tipped jigs.......occassionally a plain minnow once they retreat to deeper water which is often only 10 to 12 feet here because deep water is not abundant.........always under a float ot tight line.........most importantly is to manage moving water from wind tides.......you can catch your 20 fish limit here year round by simply timing water movement....it's the MOST important factor to Crappie fishing the Albemarle...........
real nice size crappie Jeff!!
nice!
whats the favorite setup your using this time of year?
Powerhouse of a crappie...great body symetry!
Thanks Dick.......everywhere I fish here on the Albemarle is brackish..............
I ever think of crappie as "tidal" - would you go so far as to call the water there, beneath the boat, brackish?
Jeffrey nice crappies buddy.
