I'm with you Jim - jealous! After my recent experience with Don Schmotzer, I will forever appreciate - and seek out - fish like these.

Just crazy big! One for the ages! I am jealous, but at least I'm honest!

Sensational fish, regardless of circumstance or environment! High fives all around!

i am sure this pond was managed for such.i am merely observing the fact that many giant sunfish have come from az these past years.the climate along with the management are creating ideal situations.not getting fish like this in their native range.i believe his name was dr tanner who was part of the success of the salmon and trout introduction into the great lakes was working on a hybrid bluegill for the great lakes.he was talking 5 lbs plus.they would not let him do it.this was several years ago

Oooooh, I love cutting edge strategies!

Jim, this particular fish is no accident - this pond was intensively, very specifically managed for outsized bluegill with some cutting-edge strategies that obviously worked very well.

well it is becoming obvious that arizona produces monster sunfish.just like the florida strain bass in cali.ideal growth conditions.no large predators, gators birds etc. so once they reach a certain size nothing can touch them
