Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Caught 11 bluegill and released them all except for this one...fishing deep sometimes with a soft bite and small baits they get hooked deep and this guy was throat hooked deep but he went in with the pile of Fliers.....

Thanks Friends.....things will continue to wind down and coastal regions of North Carolina historically are calm at night and very blustery from the North/Northeast during the winter months........Air temperatures got up to 56 yesterday so I went  despite the conditions because work and the time change shut me down during the week.......It's all good though!

I chalk it up to the wealth of knowledge, information and experience of the members and their willingness to share important details that put you in the ball park and hopefully provide some confidence trying other things especially when conditions change......Northeast Coastal North Carolina is just far enough North to get tidbits of bad weather like coastal lows with days on end of brutal winds but I can live with the three months of  winter that we normally end up with.....

I caught more than half of today's fish on this jig fished very deep near bottom including the big gill of today at 9"...........I had a Pink Shrimp out too that was getting hit as well as an orange/chartreuse flaked mini-mite.....I had wigglers with me but caught some live grass shrimp and the fish were hitting the live shrimp much better.....

Thanks Rex.....I normally would have passed on a day like today but no time during the week now with the time change so I battled the elements for a few hours.....I did get the Bluegill pins at Bass Pro, there was a handful of them the last time I was in the Sevierville, Tennessee location and I grabbed them all. We like to use them in our little Bluegill tourneys for big fish and other things.......

Nice catch.  Temps in Bama made it to low 60's today but winds were ripping here also.  Did you find that bluegill hat pin at Bass Pro Shops?
