Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

North Carolina state record is 3 pounds 12 ounces.....so this one needs to keep eating grass shrimp and minnows until we meet again......

Nice Bullhead, Just hate when your holding them by the mouth and bam!! lock jaw!!

Comment by Allen Morgan on November 10, 2012 at 6:06pm

THAT is a big bullhead!!!

Most of the bullheads I catch around here are between 5 and 9", tops.  To many Blue Cats and Flatheads, as those two will kill Bullheads.

20" is the minimum length for a Flathead here in OK.  That must have been a catch!

I didn't have a tape or a bump board with me today as my primary focus was suppose to be catching grass shrimp......This fish looked 20 inches long but not filled out....Either way it's the biggest one I've caught so I released him in an area I fish often....you never know! Thanks John

That's terrific ! How long Jeffrey? Only caught two Bbheads in my life .A 14" this year on a slip loated jig  /crawler piece ,and one a few years ago or last year on trolling a crankbait .

Jeff a n 18 " Yellow Bhead is fantastic too!

Wow! Nice bullhead!  Yeah I got an 18 inch Yellow BH a couple years ago from a small pond on a Rattletrap.  Released mine too.

I gave her the Trophy Bullhead pass Derrick.....she might be a record one day! A personal best for me and I catch a lot of these cats in the Carolinas!

Thanks guys...I've caught dozens of channel cats in this area and out came a Bullhead today and a pretty big one to boot....just shows you what a solid population of grass shrimp and minnows can do.......
