Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hit the Wellington Reservoir for a couple hours between my cousin's wedding and the reception. This was the biggest of three surprise smallies. Also caught some small gills and greenies. My dads been taking me to this reservoir for better than ten years and we had never caught a smallie til last year when I caught a little 6", until then we knew they were in there. Gotta love surprises.

Thanks John, I don't get into many big smallies but I always enjoy these fish no matter what size. They just don't know when to quit.

Nice Adam , got two Smallies myself yesterday at a lake .I had the hip boots on .I found two new spots that are holding smallies about 12" .Looking forward to going back again. They are tough to keep on the hook and land .Fast swimmers, great leapers, tenacious fish .I describe them as ,"very reluctant to be landed"

Thanks guys, and I've only tried wading it once, and the biggest was a chunky 11". Last year during my ichthyology class we electroshocked one that was pushing 18", my instructor said that was the biggest he's seen in that stretch. Where I'm at the river's not very big, more like a stream, the farther down the bigger the fish get.

Yep, I'm hoping to wade a stretch of the Hocking River in southern OH this week to see if I can pick any up if I can find a break from schoolwork.
