Do you love big bluegill?
20150619-WIXOM LAKE … took the kayak out on a late p.m. session and was finally rewarded with a decent B’Gill bite. This stretch of the lake has never been known for a decent B’Gill bite. Many between 7 and topping out at a nice 9.1” Gill. All caught on the COMMON SLIP BOBBER RIG (SEARCH RIG) with Gulp Pink Maggots. Surprisingly all caught in 0-3ft of water along the road rip rap. This was my largest number and sizes of B’Gill taken out of my neighborhood area of Wixom Lake as well as with my Ascend D10T kayak.
With Clear bright bluebird skies with mid 70’s surface temps I was going to start the session fishing deeper with drop shot and vertical jigging ice jigs. My internal guide and instinct once out on the lake told me start at a far stretch of shoreline I was not yet familiar with. First cast into a 1ft of water yielded a nice gill then it seemed like one after another. That whole period of time I felt I was in the presence of 10+ inchers swimming in the schools. A strong feeling.
Another day…

thanks Adam!...
Great effort indeed. Lots of quality fish there in my eyes.
thansk Jim!... i was rowing out to do the drop shot in a deeper hole and the area of rip rap looked so calm and deserted id thought id give it a try. it paid off
Excellent effort and I like the 'gut feeling' decision to fish the rip- rap.
