Do you love big bluegill?
20150527-WIXOM LAKE~ FISHING FOR GILLS... I CANT HELP IT!
20150527-WIXOM LAKE ... just came back from a short session at Wixom Lake cut short by sirens going off in town... something about a funnel cloud spotted... hey i had a bridge to protect me right!... well anyways calling it quits after catching one small skinny Northern. this Northern (i refuse to call this fish Great Northern Pike) was caught on a small brown/chart. tube jig all of 2". i catch alot of preds on tiny baits because i have my bait in the zone... a zone common to panfish as well as the preds that chase them. its still a blast to catch these things on tackle designed to finesse the panfish ... mainly the gills.
i was fishing mainly the 8-0 ft ULTRA LIGHT JIGGING ROD W/6-0# BRAID because of the reach to the water from shore as well as the wind considerations. more control and distance.
