Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

very tough fishing today.... cold water temps 49.5 and really cold weather coming up in the forecast. had to scratch any fish out of tight cover. could not scan a fish. all were single fish many small. my spine was barking at me the whole time ... so probably last time out in the boat till spring.

Jim that was some good advice you gave me the other day...

so i started looking at the bigger fish pics of the past summer... i caught what appeared to me were some very old fish at just under ten inches... except for one notable specimen that measured 9.5

maybe a new lake... i heard some great things about Houghton Lake panfish... superior growth rates... check out the chart below

best survey ive seen for michigan... and just 45 mins north with some nice boat ramps.

I saw where Houghton has produced great gills in the Master Angler Awards for Michigan. Good call!

thanks guys... very challenging day... this is the type of day i could of used a long telescopic rod like Jeff uses. lifting and dropping into and between pockets of weeds.

had fun tweaking the bobbers and getting used to the rocket bobbers i purchased over a year ago... could come in very handy.

Carl... thanks for your confidence but im beginning to believe my best shot... don't get me wrong im still trying and haven't given up... will be on Houghton lake 45 mins north of me in late spring
