It always pays to investigate any fishing gear you may find poking out of the mud. Several days ago, I was out in my kayak. I had pulled over to swap some lures/rod positions, and saw what appeared to be the top of a spin-caster rod poking out of the mud. I pulled it up, and realized I had the entire pole!

It seems that the varnish on the rod is bubbling. I can get the reel to crank, just a bit. I haven't dissassembled it an cleaned it. Honestly, I'm not sure that I want to. I think I have a bag of Zebco 33's floating around somewhere, and that's what is already on the rod.
It's a BPS "Uncle Buck" Crappie rig, about a 5-footer. Perfect Crappie or Sunfish rig for the kids.
That pole fell overboard a couple years ago. This particular lake is about 5 - 6' low right now. As you can see, this pole's tip was right at the current waterline. If this lake were at normal pool, I would have been swimming, and maybe, maybe not, touching bottom.
That pole couldn't have gone overboard last year, as the water was even lower. The drought is still affecting us, even though the heat has broken. We need rain, and LOTS of it.
Looks like someone forgot something. Sounds like me I'm finding myself to check twice man I hate gettin old it sucks.
