Mike, basically, you're right.  However, they also exist in cool-water environments, and where Saugers and Walleyes coexist, will occasionally hybridize in the wild.

Interesting fish. Have yet to catch one of them. Another one to be on the bucket list.

I have yet to catch a Crappie on the fly, much less target them.  However, one of the local lakes nearby is over-populated with stunted Crappie.  Catching some shouldn't be to hard.

Cool catch!!  I was hoping to do the "country boy grand slam" this past fishing trip.  I had caught bass, blue gill, and catfish on the fly, just needed a crappie to complete it.  Never got the crappie that day, but there's always next time.

David, no, I was wading.  I went kayaking yesterday; managed to sunburn my legs.  Can't find my wading/paddling pants.

Sauger - seems exotic, but I know it isn't.

I hear they have them here in upstate SC. This was caught while yakkin'?
